
Alexander Campkin
Alexander is a composer and conductor of instrumental and choral music.
He studied Music at the University of Oxford, where he was Choral Scholar at St. Catherine’s College, Assistant Organ Scholar at Trinity College, and conductor of the Oxford Chamber Choir and Arcadian Singers of Oxford University.
He took a Masters at the Royal Academy of Music, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Vienna at the Universität für Musik.

Alexander's choral work 'O magnum mysterium' has been selected as winner in the NCEM Composers' Award 2010. This national award is in association with BBC Radio 3, The Tallis Scholars and Chester Festivals
May 2010: Music to Motion Group Pictures Film
Alexander is to compose the music to 'Sparrow', a short film directed by Andrew Steggall, a Motion Group Pictures production
Apr 2010: Contemporary Opera Festival
Alexander is composing a second chamber opera, which is to be performed in the annual Grimeborn Contemporary Opera Festival, London
Mar 2010: 1000€ prize in International Composers' Competition
Alexander's choral work 'Adoramus te, Christe' was a prize winner in the Musica Sacra 2010 Competition in Poland. There will be a radio broadcast, and four performances in Poland, Lithuania and Cambridge
Feb 2010: Orchestral Performance in Berliner Philharmonie Kammermusiksaal
Alexander's orchestral work which was Finalist in the British Composer Awards will be performed in the Berliner Philharmonie Kammermusiksaal in a concert in April 2010
Jan 2010: Commission supported by BBC Performing Arts Fund
Alexander has received a major commission from the Wingrave Singers, supported by the BBC Performing Arts Fund. A cycle of poems by Emily Dickinson will be set for choir and organ, and premiered in March 2010

One of Alexander's orchestral works was performed twice in Texas, USA, as part of the Dallas Festival of Modern Music

Alexander's orchestral work 'Counting my Numberless Fingers' will be performed for the third time in Berlin, Germany, as part of Festival for New Music
Nov 2009: Dance performance in Vienna
Two of Alexander's works have been choreographed for contemporary dance, and will be performed in Vienna, Austria, in two performances

May 2009: Appointed Conductorship: Wingrave Singers
Alexander was appointed conductor of the Wingrave Singers in May. He will direct the choir in its active schedule of choral residencies at major Cathedrals, and a range of concerts throughout each year
Alexander was commissioned to write a new Mass Setting and an Anthem for the 125th anniversary celebrations of Pusey House, Oxford
Alexander's choral work 'O nata lux' was selected for the 8th John Armitage Memorial Prize. It will have performances by the Chapel Choir of Selwyn College, Cambridge, conducted by Nicholas Cleobury, in St. Bride's Church, London and in Manchester
The British Composer Awards 2008, presented by the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters in association with BBC Radio 3, have shortlisted Alexander's composition 'Counting my Numberless Fingers'. The Award Ceremony - in which the winners are announced - will be broadcast on Radio 3 on 3rd December
